Admissions

Students may apply between June 1st and June 15 every year. Requirements include:

  • Successful completion of 8th grade.
  • Passing the YKHSS&T Entrance Examination.
  • Be between the age of 13 & 15.
  • Can meet all the other requirements of education including living expenses, uniforms, books, and other educational expenses.

Limited, Conditional Employment for CU students:

As part of its Social Responsibility, City University has decided to provide Full scholarships for up to 100 young Somalis students the opportunity to receive high quality secondary education at the Yusuf Al-Kawnayn High School for Science & Technology (YKHSS&T). These students study Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Geography, Islamic Studies, Arabic, Somali and Information Technology. Emphasis is placed in the practical use and mastery of Information Technology tools by graduation time. Students will be prepared to join universities around the globe as well as major in any field they choose.

The required courses for College Preparatory High School Diplomas at the YKHSS&T is set by the Board of Directors of the YKHSS&T in Consultation with the Somali Federal Government Ministry of Education. The courses indicated below provide Information Technology training at the secondary level of education. Graduates can choose to go directly to work in the IT Field or continue their education by attending a degree program.

The YKHSS&T runs between September and June, weekly classes are held Saturday through Wednesday with 6 periods per day between Saturday and Wednesday and each period will be 45 Minutes long. Classes will start at 8:00 AM and will end at 12:00 PM. Thursday will be for special programs. School will be closed during the Summer which is between the last week of June and the first week of September.

To graduate from the College Preparatory high school program for Science and Technology, students must complete at a minimum, 26 units of credit in the following subjects:
