Vocational Training

Technical Vocational Education and Training(TVET) and Capacity Building Programs

City University has established itself as a reliable TVET center and capacity building partner. CU provides vocational and capacity building training in numerous niche areas and on organization, corporate and partner demand. These programs are practical and respond to market and specific organizational needs of our clients. Specifically, the programs have been designed to equip trainees with the technical and vocation needs to fit adequately in the job market. Throughout the course design and implementation CU maintains a market driven and practical skills training approach; this goes a long way in ensuring its trainees acquire the necessary and competent skills to secure employment or upgrade in their various jobs.

Fiber Optic Training

This program prepares students for entry level fiber-optic technician skills suitable for fiber optic line installation, repair and maintenance. During the training students are provided with hands-on and task specific training in installation, repair and maintenance of fiber optic networks.

Computer Technicians Training

Computers have become the center of our lives, we use them every day in communication and office use. Computer Technicians and in general people with adequate computer skills are on high demand. This program teaches the trainees competent skills in computer operations, troubleshooting, repair both hardware and software and how to independently use the different application software in the market.

Solar Technician Training

The worlds is slowly shifting to green energy, with the environmental degradation happening in our world today there is a need to embrace renewable sources of energy. The arrival of big solar generation companies in Somalia there has arisen a demand on Solar Technicians. This course is designed to teach our students the technical knowhow on how to install, repair and maintain solar equipment. The training is delivered through a hands on approach where students are given competent skills to function as world class technicians

English Language Certificate Program

English language has become the global language in the academics and business world. It is important to learn English not just as means of communications but to guarantee job placements with reputable international organizations but also a means of upward mobility in our chosen careers. CU provides a well tailored program structured to Common European Framework (CEFR) international standards delivered in six levels. Students benefit from our flexible hours and well paced programs that provide value for money.

Office Systems Management

This course is designed to teach office staff how to organize the office and how to manage office environments including, office systems, filing, business process, process , petty cash management, human resources management, procurement and inventory procedures. This program is particularly suited for new office staff with little experience.

Accounting and Financial Management

This course is designed to equip trainess with financial literacy that includes financial management, petty cash management, book keeping, auditing, payroll processing and banking procedures. Students also learn how to read and interpret financial reports and also prepare a proficient report. In addition, trainees are taken through computer aided accounting software packages such as quick books and sage.

Marine Vocational Training Programs

The City University Marine and Fisheries Institute is at the fore front of cutting edge research and practices in preserving the marine ecosystem on Africa’s second largest coastline. At the Marine and Fisheries Institute various vocational trainings are offered to students, fishermen. fishing cooperatives, boat makers and artisans drawn from Kismayo, Makka Adde, Barawe, Mogadishu and Hobyo.
